The community has more than 154,000 members who regularly share ideas and offer each other advice, encouragement, and inspiration. </p><p><br /></p><p>The mompreneur group also empowers their fellow women and the people around them. They have the ability to draw strength from their life experiences, challenges, and hardships. And most especially, this community helps women turn their startups into scalable businesses that can financially support their families and fuel their dreams.</p><p><br /></p><p><b><u>Honoring the Madiskarteng Pinays </u></b></p><p>Gawad Madiskarte was first launched to honor the mompreneurs who overcame challenges and flourished at the height of the pandemic. In a report by the ADB, it was found that “more women than men have left their paid jobs to provide essential services to their families,” and that 64% of women had no personal income, compared to 39% of men. Another study found that more Filipino women than men began to run home microenterprises on e-commerce platforms during the pandemic.</p><p>Gawad Madiskarte was born from the insight that the one thing Filipino moms needed to cope with the pandemic was a sense of optimism, confidence, and sheer determination. By celebrating women's achievements and showcasing women's support for each other in a community through this annual award program, MMPH aimed to build that confidence. This year, Gawad Madiskarte is back to do just that.</p><p>Major categories for this year include Diskarteng Angat (Fastest-Growing Business), Diskarteng Digital (Best Multi-Channel Business) and Diskarteng May Puso (Best Social Enterprise). Two major winners per category will be chosen from the Startup Division and Scale Up Division. The former are home or online businesses that recently started and show great potential while the latter are businesses that have been running for at least 13 months and are registered with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) or the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). </p><p>Special awards will also be given to three deserving finalists. These awards are Diskarteng Malikhain (Most Creative Business Branding), Diskarteng Pasulong (Most Innovative Product) and Diskarteng Home Biz (Mompreneurs’ Choice Award). </p><p>Last March, PLDT Home’s Madiskarte Moms PH (MMPH) won, not only the Gold Anvil Award, but also the prestigious Grand Anvil – the highest honors at the 58th Anvil Awards, considered the Oscars of local PR, awarded by the Public Relations of the Philippines (PRSP). MMPH was also given the Silver Award from the Asia Pacific Stevie Awards last year. Reyes, Jr. said. “With our aggressive network expansion, we were able to provide Filipinos everywhere in the country with the most powerful network, world-class products and diverse content that allow them to fully embrace and enjoy their digital lifestyles.”<br /> <br /> Reyes said demand for high-speed broadband services at Home has been driven by the growing appetite of Filipinos for online video entertainment services such as Netflix, iflix, Cignal and the NBA.<br /> <br /> “Several recent studies have shown that Filipinos are among the most enthusiastic users of online video in the world.  We are now watching more video online than through broadcast TV,” he explained.<br /> <br /> To serve this growing demand, PLDT expanded its fixed and mobile broadband networks through a record-high capital expenditures (capex) program that reach P58.5 billion in 2018. <br /> <br /> As a result, PLDT’s increased the coverage of its fiber-powered fixed network by 57% to 6.3 million homes passed, exceeding by end-2018 its 2020 target.  Along with greater coverage, PLDT increased the available capacity of its fixed broadband network to 2.6 million ports, 2.6 times more versus the previous year.<br /> <br /> To support this rapid expansion, PLDT also added nearly 70,000 kilometers of fiber cables, expanding its total fiber network to over 244,000 kilometers by 2018, a 39% increase from end-2017.<br /> <br /> PLDT’s aggressive nationwide fiber expansion, through its Fibr City program, continued in 2018. With the cooperation of Local Government Units (LGUs), PLDT has fiber-powered numerous areas, including favorite tourist destination El Nido in Palawan, as well as the country’s bustling shoe capital Marikina City in Metro Manila. PLDT, Smart are PH’s fastest fixed, mobile networks in 2018

The fixed network award is based on 27,221,777 customer-initiated Speedtest nationwide for the same period.<br /> <br /> The Speed Score is a measure that takes into account both upload and download speeds.<br /> <br /> “We are pleased to award Smart with the award for Fastest Mobile Network and PLDT for the award for Fastest Fixed Network in the Philippines. This recognition is testament to their exceptional performance in Q3-Q4 based on Ookla's rigorous analysis of consumer-initiated tests taken with Speedtest," said Jamie Steven, Executive Vice President at Ookla.<br /> <br /> These latest figures are improvements from the Q1-Q2 scores, when Smart posted a Speed Score of 14.98 and PLDT achieved a speed score of 17.31.<br /> <br /> “This award is proof that our continued investments in our network to improve the mobile internet experience of our customers across the country are paying off,” said Mario G. This reflects the results of the major network upgrade activities that Smart recently undertook in the city, including the activation of LTE-Advanced and carrier aggregation.<br /> <br /> For mobile, Speed Score incorporates a measure of each provider’s download and upload speed to rank network speed performance. Tests used to calculate the Speed Score exclusively come from ‘modern devices’, which are devices capable of connecting to the market’s fastest, generally available technology.<br /> <br /> For fixed, Ookla assesses the best network speeds attained across a given network, accounting for tests that are taken on various Speedtest applications that connect to a fixed network, including tests taken on mobile phones over a Wi-Fi connection. PLDT has committed historic levels of resources to support network transformation which is estimated to amount to US$ 5 billion from 2016 to 2020. In 2018, capital expenditures were at P58 billion.<br /> <br /> Alongside Smart’s ramped-up Long Term Evolution (LTE) and LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) roll out, PLDT is also aggressively rolling out its fiber broadband service, which also supports the stepped-up deployment of the mobile network by providing high-capacity links for cellular base stations.<br /> <br /> To date, Smart has also already fulfilled its commitment to the National Telecommunications Commission to cover at least 90 percent of cities and municipalities to address the growing demand for broadband infrastructure and internet access within three years from the grant of the use of frequencies by the NTC in 2016.<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, PLDT operates the country’s most extensive fiber infrastructure at 221,000 km and its fiber coverage has now reached 5.75 million homes as of end of the 3rd quarter of 2018, while its total capacity of 2.25 million ports has more than doubled from end of 2017.<br /> <div> <br /></div>
