BPI’s wealth management arm wins bid to manage P1B Pag-IBIG Fund portfolio

BPI Wealth was awarded the initial bid along with 4 other fund managers. With the recent landmark awarding, BPI Wealth now takes control of the biggest portion of Pag-IBIG Fund's equity investment portfolio that is outsourced to domestic fund managers. </div><div><br /></div><div>“To be selected in the initial bid back in 2019 was an honor as this was a testament to the trust and confidence given to us by one of the largest government financial institutions in the country. His fishing boat was completely destroyed after Typhoon Odette rammed into his home, leaving him unable to provide for his family while facing an uncertain future. He had to settle with borrowing other people's boats or joining them in fishing trips just to get by.</p><p>“Dako kaayo akong kalipay, labi na usa ko sa beneficiary sa maong tabang nga diin makarecover mi ug balik sa among panginabuhi-an nga diin dili nami mosakay sa lahi na sakayan. Usa pod, maka bubo nami balik sa panudlanan sa kapunongan tali sa maong tabang. (…) Kami, kalipay namong dako nga bisan dako ang kadaot diri sa among kapungongan, nagpasalamat mi nga ang Ginoo nag tan-aw gyod namo ug unsa ang among kinahanglan ug adunay gyoy grasya nga nadawat,” Jimmy expressed. (“I am filled with great happiness because I am one of the beneficiaries who are granted the opportunity to recover our livelihood. Through this help, we won’t have to join in other people’s fishing trips, and we can finally revive our association’s funds. We are greatly happy that despite the immense damage, God has been looking out for us and has provided us these blessings.”)    </p><p>As the social development arm of the Bank of the Philippine Islands, BPIF, through the Balik Bugsay project, hopes to pursue their advocacy of Bayanihan, partnering with like-minded institutions like RAFI, to equip local associations and individuals to be economically disaster resilient by providing them with tools to recover and restore their livelihood. </p><p> “Kami sa BPI Foundation, kauban ang RAFI, nalipay sa oportunidad nga makahatag ninyo ug galamiton alang sa panginabuhi nga makatabang sa inyong pagpadayon pagkahuman sa bagyo.  Tinguha sa BPI Foundation nga molambo ang matag pamilya lakip na kamong mananagat nga dako ug kontribusyon sa atuang komunidad ug ekonomiya,” said Juvylyn Reniva, Associate Director of BPI Foundation.  (“We in BPI Foundation, together with RAFI, are happy with this opportunity to give you tools for livelihood that will help move forward after the typhoon.  It is our aspiration for every family to progress, including the fisherfolk who greatly contribute to our community and economy.”)</p><p>Similarly, with its ongoing initiatives for rehabilitation and recovery, RAFI HDPR continues to support different sectors in the community that still have not recovered from the aftereffects of Typhoon Odette.</p><p>“Kami sa RAFI, aduna kami panultihon nga, Padayon sa Pagbugsay. After thorough deliberation and intensive boot camps, the finalists were shortlisted and tasked to prepare a pitch of their business plan. </div><div><br /></div><div>Top 10 Social Entrepreneurs</div><div><br /></div><div>Recognized for presenting the most promising projects this year, Breastfeeding Care Center of the North (Baguio City), Coron Natural Farms (Palawan), PHILIA (Sultan Kudarat), Shiftech Marine (Misamis Oriental), and Zarahlan Bokashi Composting (Quezon City) were hailed as the top five awardees of the BPI Sinag Evolution Business Challenge for SEs, while Green Beauty and Wellness Center (Sorsogon), Ride Mommy Delivery Services (Cagayan), Sanagi Agri Tourism Farm (Benguet), Studentship Educational Innovations Philippines, OPC (Sultan Kudarat), and Tableya Filipino (Davao City) took the sixth to tenth spots.</div><div><br /></div><div>To help take their businesses to the next level, each of the top five winners will receive cash grants worth P300,000, while the rest of the awardees will get P100,000 each. The top 10 SEs will also undergo a six-month mentorship program from the pioneering social enterprise incubator Bayan Academy for Social Entrepreneurship and Human Resource Development.</div><div><br /></div><div>Other social enterprises also received special awards. Tableya Filipino (Davao City) won the BPI Direct BanKo NegosyoKo Award with a P30,000 cash grant while 1740 Coffee Genesis (National Capital Region) bagged the Entrego Bizkarte Award with a P30,000 cash grant. Capili Trading Inc. (Misamis Oriental) and Ride Mommy Delivery Services (Cagayan) took home the Villgro Philippines Business Growth Support Award with three-month exclusive mentorship sessions. "We need more changemakers, especially during these challenging times and education is a key enabler for change and nation building.  We are delighted to support DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela program whose slogan – Bayanihan para sa Paaralan – is well aligned with our own advocacy for the Bayanihan culture." </p><p>Each identified public school will receive two (2) printers, bottles of ink with 5,000 yields, and 100 reams of bond paper.  </p><p>DepEd Undersecretary Tonisito "Tony” Umali emphasized the importance of these donations in ensuring the students’ continued education.
