Today, the Giant township developer, Megaworld announced the waiving of rental charges to all its tenants and retail partners in all its Malls and commercial centers situated in Luzon and the rest of Metro Manila. The said move is applicable from March 16, 2020, to April 12, 2020, especially to those businesses that could not operate during this COVID-19 Luzon-wide quarantine.



COVID-19 Luzon-wide quarantine.“We understand the impact of our mall closures to our retail partners and merchants, and we would like to provide them with this reprieve in order to help them recover during this difficult time,” says Graham Coates, first vice president and head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.



Megaworld Lifestyle Malls has shopping malls and commercial centers in its various townships and communities in Luzon like Eastwood City in Quezon City, Uptown Bonifacio, Forbes Town, McKinley Hill, and McKinley West in Taguig City, Newport City in Pasay City, Arcovia City in Pasig City, Alabang West in Las PiƱas City, Twin Lakes near Tagaytay, Southwoods City in Laguna, and Lucky Chinatown in Binondo, Manila.



Aside from waiving the rental fees during this time, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls will also assist mall merchants like supermarkets, pharmacies, clinics, and banks that have been allowed to open during the quarantine period in terms of in-store sanitation and disinfecting efforts.

Our personnel will also help tenants like supermarkets that need assistance in ensuring the required social distancing during long queues,” adds Coates.



On the other hand, Megaworld has extended food assistance to healthcare and medical personnel in various Metro Manila hospitals including border security personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) deployed in different parts of Metro Manila.

More than 1,000 food packs and water have already been distributed to frontline medical and healthcare personnel In Philippine General Hospital, Pasig City General Hospital, Pasay City General Hospital, San Lazaro Hospital, Taguig General Hospital, and Ospital ng Makati, and to the National Capital Region (NCR) Border Security Teams



We still have scheduled distribution of McDonald’s food boxes and bottled water to other hospitals in the coming days, and to other border security outposts across Metro Manila. We are also looking into extending food assistance to our LGU workforce who are also on the frontline of assisting people and ensuring community order during this quarantine period,” says Francis Canuto, president, Megaworld Foundation.
